i was going along the same path.. only i would leave muslin or white squares for everyone to write their good wishes for the happy couple on, then make a quilt incorporating those with their wedding colors for their first anniversary gift.... gives you a whole year!
the nice thing about putting a wedding together that quickly, is there isn't a lot of time for obsessing, and turning into bridezilla!
