It usually takes several evenings to hand-finish the binding on the back, but I know it's on there to stay. :D I'm not very skilled at piecing and only intermediate in FMQ skills - but this is the one thing I do pretty well.
That's the way I do it too. I think using a single strand allows for tinier stitches (closer together). So far, so good. I guess only time will tell....
