I have special glasses for the computer since I use a computer at work. I haven't tried them for sewing. I haven't notice a problem at the machine, but I take breaks every hour. For hand work I use the drug store magnifying glasses. I just got new glasses and I still can't thread the needle without the magnifiers. So I'm always changing glasses depending on what I am doing.
