I always wash on gentle, no fabric softener, line dry. That makes sure all of the markings are out and it IS washable before I give it as a gift. Many of the chairties I quilt for ask you to wash before donating it.)

Would you please explain your method of blocking the quilt??

I placed the quilt in the washer, filled w/water, soaked, then spun water out, bought two pieces of 4x8 insulation board from Lowes ('bout $20), laid the two insulation boards side by side, and taped them together, making one 8 x 8, laid the wet quilt on the board (or more like styrofoam board), stretched it out, made sure it was all nice and square, pinned all four sides down to the board, let it dry about 24 hours, pulled the pins up the next day and all nice flat and crisp, no crinkles from washing
