My family didn't have much money but we sure did have fun. On Friday or Saturday evenings my parents would get together with their friends (several couples) and the men would sit around and play bluegrass/country music. My dad played guitar, banjo, fiddle and harmonica all by ear. The women would sit around the table and gossip, drink coffee and smoke cigarettes while jumping up and down to check on us kids. Us kids? Well, we'd run in and out of the house and play hide and seek, freeze tag, etc and chase lightning bugs. I never even knew we were broke!
