I know you said my quilt wasn't what you were looking for but I think I was inspired by the one you're looking for. I used coloring book pages just like Izy did. In the smaller, side blocks, Hello Kitty is doing several different things, but it's harder to see in such a large quilt. I have her riding a dolphin, having a tea party, and so on.
Even if these aren't quite what you want to do, that's the beauty of applique~you can tailor it to what your DGD wants! :-) If there's something specific she would like or likes to do, you can do that. My DD loves ballet, tea parties, skating and riding her scooter so I made sure to include those blocks in there. It wasn't the same as the one she saw from Izy, but she loves her tailor-made one so much more and doesn't go anywhere with out it. Experiment and have fun with yours. I'm sure your DGD will cherish anything her Grandmother makes for her.
This is Kitty and her umbrella.
