When our oldest son joined the Marines and was sent overseas he missed the dog so much he'd call and we held the phone to her ear. She would get real excited and whine and then look for him. Glad your son came home safe and sound! My dog does this too, if I talk to her on the phone....she hears my voice and runs around trying to find me....Only I had to stop asking to speak with her because she would get so upset!
She wouldn't stop looking until I was back home again. She only does this if I call....otherwise she just takes a nap at the door until I get back.
