They are patterned after the Shaker racks I saw in the various restored Shaker villages I visited many years ago. If the truth was known, I favor the Shaker style above all others. You get to show off your joinery technique, and ability, and the simplicity of line in that style, is timeless. It blends with any number of other furniture types without being out of place.
