I didn't do the quilting. Took it to my long arm expert. I find it way to hard to try quilt a large quilt on a sewing machine.
She just did lots of circles or open dots to go along with the polka dotted material. It worked out great because it wasn't too much so it didn't take away of the pieces of the puzzle.
