I sat and cried through the whole thing, for me its very personal I was supposed to be on the the first flight into the tower. I got severe food poisoning and couldn't make the flight I was sicker than a dog in the hotel room. However myself and my co-worker were already checked on as we had no luggage.
That was back in the days when you could go to the airport ahead of time and get your boarding pass. We would have been sitting directly behind the hijackers in business class. My co-worker didn't make the flight either he stayed behind to deal with another client crisis.
I have no idea why we were sparred I struggle every 9/11 with the fact that were alive and so many mourn for their lost loved ones.
