That would be my view. I know many people (most of them NOT quilters) think every quilt should be entirely hand done. I point out to them that my great grandmother, widely viewed as an exceptional quilter, was piecing on a sewing machine at about the time of the Civil War. She had the first sewing machine that she knew of in Chicago.
I might suggest "custom made for ___ by ___ on date", but leave the decision to them.
