For the feather stitch on the seams, lighter thread may work better than darker. Those baskets are absolutely beautiful and I would keep the emphasis on those. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished quilt.
Thanks at this point I am really thinking of goinjg this way..if I put it on point as some suggestged i'd have to make more or use plain blocks in between and that would make it bigger..I really like the simple binding idea...lol I think...will look at it and think about it for a while since my fabrics are all in Ct and I am in NC now
