Did you try sewing with the 403 but with the plastic bobbin?
They both had a plastic bobbin in them, sewed wonderfully, and both bobbins looked the same. As a matter of fact, they look the same as the metal ones but the metal are too tight.
That is interesting. Unfortunately, I have reached the extent of my knowledge with these models. If you have a manual for the 403, that might tell you what type/size of bobbin you need. I do know that subbing a plastic bobbin for metal one and vice versa is not good for the machine. Hopefully some of the experts, with a 403, will chime in with their knowledge.
