It's a Mariner's Compass pattern that came with the paper pieced pattern on the interfacing. I think it's this one:

On a different note, I like your avatar! I wanted to take a picture of something like it on a Navy base but they wouldn't let us take the picture. Did you use a pattern or is this your original design?
Also where in OR are you? There is a group of us who get together regularly for quilting fun! We even have a retreat the end of Oct you could join us for!
