I found 2 of the 9 square cubby shelves at Walmart for $30 each. I can't buy and have the wood cut for that so I'm going to get those - and then get the wood cut for the top and whatnot. I figure we'll make the drawer since the plans call for it that way and I'll have enough wood left over after cutting the top piece to do it.

One person that posted a picture of theirs said that instead of nailing/screwing the top in place they made it more like a lid. I think we'll do that as well this way it is easy enough to move when we move to the new house.
Yeah, it's going to cost 3x as much as the original plan but I am totally loving the new plan. No worries about bedrisers or pvc pipe anymore. I am so good to go :D

I'll post pictures when I get it all built... but don't hold your breath. I will have to have my father in law help me as my husband is not really that handy... at all...
