You are exactly right. First cleans with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, then clip off very quickly with a pair of your little sharp pointed scissors. Have a little round band aid ready and press it on firmly after you clip it off. I have done it with many of mine and my friends, also. Works fine. If you are queazy about pain, press an ice cube on the spot for about a minute just before you clip it off.
