We all have reasons to quilt, I thought I only had two urgent ones. 1. I walked pass material that caught my attention and asked to be made into a quilt. 2. I see a pattern that sparks my interest and asks me to make it.
3. and now because it happened saturday, I know a third. because there is some ugly blanket or spread that I feel needs to be covered by something better. I use the 100% polyester blankets as batting, because that's all they are batting that won't shift. Chenille, sheds like any animal pet, and to keep from cleaning the dryer filter that is always full, I use chenille as batting. Sunday, I finished a youth bed quilt in which I used a cotton blanket as batting, because the customer didn't want a heavy product. I had a six foot by twenty-four inch piece of cotton left. I throw nothing that big away. I was unsettled most of the day trying to think what to do with it. Then it hit me, it's getting cool, and my daughter uses shawls and scarves. I decided to use the cotton as batting for a quilted shawl. Spoke to her and she settled on a carpenter's star design. Friday we pick out the colors.
