Here are some shops to visit. I STRONGLY suggest calling the ones I have never been in to see if they are still open. A few of the ones I wanted to list are no longer in business. So to start the trip first up is:

Gainesville, TX http://www.passtimefabrics.com/ This is in the first town in Texas after crossing the Red River. Nice shop in downtown. Been there often.

Alternate route to get in more shops. Take Hwy 82 east to

Whitesboro, TX http://www.k-quiltshop.com/ This shop is about 15 minutes East of Gainesville, off Hwy 82. This is my LQS. Very nice place and ladies are so nice.

Continue east on Hwy 82 then Hwy 75 South to Van Alstyne and this shop
quilt shop http://www.alfordinn.com/ Neat place about 20 minutes from me.

Then further south on Hwy 75 to

McKinney, TX http://www.thequiltasylum.com/index.htm LOVE this place. Lots of brights and fun fabric. Loads of books and patterns. Lots and lots of fun.

McKinney, TX http://www.happinessisquilting.com/s....asp?idpage=36 Been there once, small shop unless they have remodeled.

Then take Hwy 380 west back to I35 at Denton. Take I35E at the split in Denton and proceed to

Lewisville, TX http://www.quiltcountry.com/eshop/11browse.asp FABULOUS shop. This one is on I34 East. Well worth the slight detour. TONS of fabric.

Back over to I35W and on to Ft. Worth

Ft. Worth, TX http://www.cabbagerosequilting.com/ Never visited this one, but SIL has been there several times.

Ft. Worth TX http://www.berrypatchfabrics.com/ have not been to this one

Burleson, TX http://www.countrystitchesquiltshop.com don't know anything about this one. I'll have to try to stop next time we go to Temple

Granbury, TX http://www.houstonstmercantile.com/ This town is to the west of I35W. Neat town. Lots to do. Quilt shop is nice. Been there once during a family reunion in the area.

Joshua, TX http://www.batiksgalore.com/ also to the west of I35W. never been there

Waco, TX http://www.tomorrowsquilts.com/ have not tried this one either

Temple, TX Ladybug Quilts‎

This should give your friend some choices. I gave alternate routes. And depending on how long she takes at each one, she could probably do all in a day. If she started at 9AM. At least she could get all the ones down to Waco.

She could arrange her trip to catch some of the shops on the way back.

If she is going to FT Hood in Kileen, while in the area she needs to try The Cyclone Corral in Cyclone, TX for BBQ. They are open on Friday and Saturday nights. Wonderful BBQ. Bus loads come in fairly often. She will have to use MapQuest to find this tiny place and the following. A review of CC BBQ http://adventuresinwaco.blogspot.com...ne-corral.html

And a visit to Green's Sausage House in Zabcikville, TX. http://www.greenssausagehouse.com/ (Hubby's cousins. Sausage is from old family recipe brought over by hubby's great grandparents from what is now the Czech Republic)

Well, this should fix her up for fabric and sustenance during her journey.
