This should give your friend some choices. I gave alternate routes. And depending on how long she takes at each one, she could probably do all in a day. If she started at 9AM. At least she could get all the ones down to Waco.
She could arrange her trip to catch some of the shops on the way back.
If she is going to FT Hood in Kileen, while in the area she needs to try The Cyclone Corral in Cyclone, TX for BBQ. They are open on Friday and Saturday nights. Wonderful BBQ. Bus loads come in fairly often. She will have to use MapQuest to find this tiny place and the following. A review of CC BBQ
