Thank you. I just bought a desk, that has a drawer to the right and 3 drawers on the left. I thought I could just cut a hole in the top above the right drawer and set the machine into the drawer. I just didn't know how far back to make it. I hope it works like I want it to.

This is a sewing desk the hole was already there. the part under the sewing machine and the drawer to the right are fake to make room for the machine and cords. It is about 4 inches back though.

Very nice. How far back from the edge of the desk did you put your machine? I would like to do the same, but not sure how far back, and your insert is wonderful. Makes me less scared to cut a hole in the desk I have my machine on. I would also like to put a lift-up table in the back.
