Exactly! And don't forget your local second hand shop..try mens 100% cotton plaid shirts! bonnie hunter has a book out called shirt tails or something like that. she has a great site on line..with all scrap quilts!

Muslin is cheap, you could get bleached or unbleached to use as sashing..and backing.
check your local churches or senior center for a quilt gathering.
check out the library for quilt books..!
