We did prewash the fabric & lost a half an inch on one side. We're squaring up to 9 1/2 & it'll be OK, but I was amazed that "we no longer pre-washing fabric."
I prewash EVERYTHING! Better safe than sorry. Prewashing also eliminates the problem of one fabric shrinking at a different rate that another, like if you accidentaly happen to include something like a synthetic or blend in your fabricsl :-D
