Every decent quality queen size sheet I find says "fits up to 17" deep mattresses." Does anyone sell shallow fitted sheets? I have one old percale sheet and it fits well and doesn't get as wrinkled and stretched out.

I have tried the suspender things and they are OK, but they don't keep the whole sheet as taut as I would like. I wonder if I could sew and tailor my sheets and make them fit better?
You could try putting one on the mattress inside out, and pinning it where you want the seams at the corners to be. Take it off carefully, and sew along the pinned lines (might be better to use safety pins).
