I never smelled that kind of a smell before and It is to late to return it . I hate to wash the pieces before i use it but I think if I am going to use it that is what I am going to have to do. Yes, the same thing happened to me once ... I bought a kit once that must have been a year old and stored in a stinky plastic bag in a smelly old basement somewhere. It was awful!!! I washed all the pieces and hung everything out in the sunshine ... eventually the smell did go away.
