To me it looks like dish towel fabric, especially with the short width and the edging. I think it is similar to pillow case tubing that my Mother would buy to embroider pillow cases. This is similar in that I believe it is to make dish towels. Now how about that for a nice, concise description of what you have recently acquired. (See I can be as confusing as the next person.) lol
