Only certain titles are really protected. Anyone can call themselves a "nurse" or "lactation consultant" in most states, but "registered nurse" and "IBCLC" (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant" are limited to those who have met certain qualifications. I highly doubt that either "quilt master" or "master quilter" are limited. More likely, "ABC Society Master Quilter" would be. I'm a master laundry-folder, btw, in addition to being a BSN, RNC-OB, IBCLC and a buncha other initials. I was even a DO (kind of doctor) on my paychecks for several months. Shoulda figured out how to make that work for me... Initials can mean something, or nothing at all :)
