The phrase "it works" scares me.
We have a friend who collects antique tools. He has several that are treadle operated. They actually were original. I was shocked and he said yup they powered saws by treadles back in the day. He had a jig saw he was letting kids cut cedar at a festival. (It's been a while....)

That's interesting. I don't know why I wouldn't have made the connection between treadle power in a sewing machine or any other type of machine. :) Guess it shows what my mind is on!
