Interesting question. While I can identify most fabrics by manufacturer, I cannot say that about batiks. And now that I know what "chop" means, I guess I have to say I lean toward them, as opposed to "solid" or "watercolored" batiks. Color is what draws me first...bright reds, yellows, oranges, lime greens. I have also noticed a lack of lighter,
background colors but did recently see a packet of lights all bundled together and I jumped on it like a june bug on a duck's back! So yeah, I think they would sell well. On the downside...I hate when I'm in a swap and folks use cheap, box store batiks. They are flimsy enough to read through and most time the back sides of the fabrics look like they are printed fabrics not batiks. And a last note, I am picky about my batik use because I will not mix batiks with other fabrics in a quilt top.
