I had a book explain it, but really understood after taking a class. As you said, once you have done a few folds, you understand the concept. I like it to because you are just folding back the ironed on paper and sewing on the edge. I sure does make it easier than through the paper and then tearing it off.

Yes, you just peel it off after you've finished sewing. You don't sew through the paper at all so it's not attached other than "sticking".

When I first saw this tutorial, I thought it looked complicated and wasn't going to try it. But then I had an idea for a block I wanted to make so decided to give it a try. I'm such a hands-on learner- I just followed the directions one step at a time and before I was halfway through the block I didn't need the directions any more! It really was very simple.
