I agree, sometimes, even if I audition a thread & think it's my best choice...a row or two into the quilt, ugh! I either live with it (depending on how dense the quilting is), or I rip it out and start over.

I did that several times, and it helped me to get a better idea of what will and won't look good. Sometimes you don't realize what it will look like until it's done. Sometimes you realize it after the first row, and then you have to decide whether to stop and rip it out and start over with another pattern, or whether to live with it. Fortunately, the worst one I did was on my own quilt. I didn't rip it out, and it hangs on my wall, but I learned a lot that day.
