I agree -- I like to tonals best. I don't like a lot of different randomly placed colors as they are too busy. I like the impact of vibrant colors of my choosing rather than the manufacturer's choosing. A while ago, I bought a yard of fabric so I could fussy cut one color. I would not do that again.
So would something like this be good, in place of a watercolor? It has a print, but basically reads as a single color.
