I also do handquilting & I use templates which I have purchased from Joanns, Hobby Lobby & quilt stores. Place your template where you want your quilting then trace the design onto your quilt top with a water soluble pencil/pen. I use the SlimLine pen and have been very happy with it.After you have your design traced, start your handquilting. I also handquilt around any fabric designs such as flowers etc.
