Well, i have an Elna 7300 as well as 2 other Janome machines and have experimented with various ways of getting that scant 1/4" seam. the 02 foot for me is just ok but I recently bought the clearview foot and it makes a world of difference! It grips the fabric much better and i do not have the veering left issue that I had with the other feet! Also the little red mark to the right is very helpful and the 1/4" seam is now spot-on. I don't use the guide but it does come with 2 so that the foot can be used with right-side guide and center guide for stitch-in-ditch. Maybe others get on fine with standard 1/4" Janome feet or the newer 02 foot but for me, this one is the best of all. I have pieced many squares (twister ones) and have had not one problem with fabric being sucked into hole. Just wanted to share my success with this foot!
