I retired as a sp. ed. teacher a year ago last May because all the stress had really effected my health negatively. This year I decided to go back to work and elected to work as a paraprofessional. I am working in 4 2nd grade classrooms.
Today a boy in one of the classes was making mouth noises after the class had been asked to be quiet. They were in a line outside the classroom.
I went up to him and put my hands on each side of his face. I very kindly asked him "What am I going to do with you?" He looked at me and smiled and said, "Take me to Candy Mountain and let me swim in hot chocolate." I had to laugh. I told him he had a wonderful imagination.
These children can be so adorable.
I have been thinking about that ever since it happened. I thought he was sooo cute saying that. I wondered if it was from a movie like "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" or something like that.
