Do you try to make your quilt sizes coincide with bed sizes? Or do your quilts just end up as big as the end up?

I want to get the most use from quilts so I make them queen size . I know they can be used on a standard bed, queen or a couch throw.
When they are passed down they will continue to be used.When I spend 6 months or more making a quilt this helps me justify the time knowing they will be appreciated.
