I belong to a credit union, and believe it or not, they actually know where I go, more or less. If they see charges show up in or out of state that aren't someplace they have "seen" me before. Or if the charges seem unusual. I got a call seconds after putting five hundred on my card at Lowes.
I lost my wallet a few years back, in Alabama, and since then, and face to face transaction requires my password.
