My Mom had a fur cape and some time after she passed, I had the cape made into teddy bears. The fur wasn't anything fancy, probably muskrat! There was enough fur for a bear for each of my three children and one for me, too. I was pleased with mine but my kids said told me that it would be okay if I kept their bear for them. Regardless, I thought it was a good idea!
I think you did the right thing Joan, perhaps there will come a time when your kids will appreciate the gesture. I hope so.
