just get an old rag and wipe every thing till there is no more oil coming off your machine. adjust the tensions and sew several times with old material and the oil should be caught on the cloth and then every thing will be ok.
I wouldn't say any thing to hubby-his manly feelings would be hurt. and he sounds like a dear man.
