My MIL is cold and mean just like that. Every holiday it is a challenge to buy her anything. She always finds something mean to say about her gift. If you get her a sweater she says it pulls on her, if you get her crystal or any kind of figurine it is just another thing to dust. Her and her husband like to gamble so when they built fancy casinos here in Colorado I thought giving them a gift certificate to stay in one of the hotels up there was a winning idea. She told us she wasn't going to stay up there, the damn thing might burn down. I lost my own mother when I was only 21 so I can really relate to the hurt you feel. (((HUGS)))
Maybe you and your sister should get together and plan a special weekend hiding out, eating all your favorite treats, laughing, and making two quilts full of wonderful memories.
