I do mine with fabric paint pens. I put together what I want it to say and then find a font and size that I like. Then I print it mirror-image on freezer paper. Iron it on to the fabric, use my homemade light table and trace the wording. Then I go back and paint it with the paint pen. After the paint dries - usually overnight - I iron it on the front and back to heat set it. Then I stitch it in place - usually on the back lower right corner.

Here the one that I just did on my last quilt. BTW this is after it has been washed the first time.
