I just got off the phone with the IRS. How stupid do you have to be to get a job with them?
I filed our taxes in 2009. We had to pay $410. Sent a check in due time. A few months later, we get a check for $345 with a letter saying there was a mistake in our calculations and we are due a refund. I never could find the mistake. Cashed the check and that was the end of it.
Today we get a letter saying we owe $365 for taxes due for 2009. That would be $345 taxes due plus $20 interest. Let me get this straight. I send the correct amount of money to them. They send money back to me. Now they want that money back plus interest.
You gotta love the government.
About six or seven years ago, after filing taxes and paying what was due, we got a check for over $1,200. I knew that wasn't right. I sent that back. It may come to haunt us some times down the road.
