Here is a pic of the prayer square I made for our Pastor who had quadruple bypass surgery today. I have included a pic of the book it came from. The title of the block is "Steps to the Altar" and the scripture is Matthew 11:28-30. For a prayer square, you tie instead of quilt. Then people say a prayer for the recipient as they tie a knot. They are small enough to tuck in a bag, set on a nightstand, etc.
We do this at our church. One Sunday we sent 5 prayer quilts around to be tied and prayers said. We use a yard of fabric for ours though.
