Here I simply leave plants outside, and they thrive where they are. Sometimes I bring in cuttings, but my tom cat loves some of them so it's usually mainly ferns inside most of the time. Spider plants he eats for roughage, they live outside and are taking over the ground under the lemon tree. I have a "rescue" 10 inch tall banana or Bird of Paradise bought from the grocery store's "almost dead" plant sale for 99 cents. Hard to tell what they are when young. It's growing nicely in the kitchen window, and Koko doesn't seem interested in it.
The tomato plants seem tired now, but they will hang on for a long time yet around here. I'll have to rip them up and either take cuttings or stomp them under the mulch.
