Hi, I am asking for help please!

Can anyone date this machine? As seen on the chrome plate, the number is: No3086886. I didn't notice when I bought it but now I see clearly that one of the plate screws is missing - LOL!

Also, I am looking for opinions regarding how much I should "touch" this machine and cabinet. If it were a Singer 66 I wouldn't hesitate in shining her up nice and pretty and re-finishing the cabinet. However, I'm not sure what level of cleaning I should do to this one. Is it rare enough that it should retain its patina? In any case, I will want to do what needs done in order for me to use it.

It came with several feet (no glass presser foot Charlee.) I don't know what many of these are yet but they appear to be a tucker, hemmer, binder, and other misc. feet. There also is an extra feed dog plate that says "FOR COARSE THREAD", 4 extra bobbins, and a Boye 18 wooden needle case with two needles. The bobbin case is in the machine but is knotted up with thread so I'll have to work at it to get that out.

It is in a seven drawer cabinet which has all of its wheels and the treadle works. I have not seen this style of cabinet in any other pictures of the D-9. The cabinets that are similar to this have straight angular wood pieces on either side of the middle drawer. This cabinet has graceful curved wood accents underneath each end of the center drawer. The cabinet top itself has lifted veneer in some places where cracks have developed in the middle of the board. The edges of the boards do not have lifted/missing veneer. The belt is rotten.

I am very pleased with the condition of the decals on the head. When I bought it there was flannel wrapped around the top bar being used as a pin cushion. As you can see to the right of the spool for thread, the decals have been damaged in that area by the pins.

I really appreciate any comments and opinions you can give me! Thank you so much.
