May I suggest the website Postcrossing.com? It is an international postcard mailing - you register, send postcards to randomly selected addresses, and receive them from people all over the world. My son also collects postcards and he just received his first from a nice lady in Germany - he was thrilled! Check them out at www.postcrossing.com - it would be a fun way for him to get a really wide variety of postcards. (PS I pm'd you)
