The late Kay Yow, NCSU women's basketball coach, had a quilt on her casket. I loved the idea. Then, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, a dear friend, made me a "bald headed ladies" breast cancer quilt. She took the backing to my office and asked everyone to pen a message with a permanent marker. After receiving the gift, I asked friends and my healthcare team to add their message. I don't plan to have use for it for at least another 25 years, but I do want it used on my casket.
