I would go with the walking foot first and then if there is a stitch-in-the-ditch sole for your walking foot I would get that, and then lastly the darning foot.
With the walking foot you can piece, stitch-in-the-ditch, straight line quilt so that would cover quite a few things that you might do as a new quilter.
