Have the vet check for a UTI. Many dogs and cats pee where you will notice to try and get you to see there is a problem.

When our first two cats were still with us, they would BOTH get up in the bathroom sink and pee there when they had kidney problems. We could see the blood in the sinks and off to the vet we would go, both cats screaming with rage...but it fixed that till the next time a few years later. One would be locked out of that bathroom so we could tell which one was guilty.
