First of all, I like option # 2 because the black border stops the design and frames the quilt very nicely. As for sashing, I would almost need to see a prototype on one that was sashed before I would have an opinion, but I definitely think if you do decide to sash it, the sashing should be narrow so as not to distract from the stars. Whatever you do, it promises to be a very pretty quilt!
