I just moved to the Sarasota area a month ago...it was a voluntary move for us. I absolutely love it here and I have found that the majority of people here are very nice and seem to have better manners than where I moved from. I agree with the "no snow" comment....and it is getting cold up north...while I can enjoy my morning coffee sitting by the pool! Their experience will be what they make of it.
