Printers with separate cartridges for each color are less expensive to operate. If you run out of red, you only need to buy an inexpensive red cartridge. Not an expensive 3 color cartridge, just because you ran out of one color. If you do a lot of color printing, this can save you money. Especially, if you tend to use up more of one color.
